Apocalypse for a brighter future

Apokalyps (apocalypse) can be understood as, not only doom, but also revelation. ALT is a design and innovation studio from Malmö that works with sustainable design and re-use of materials. They move in the fields of technology, chemistry and of course design. ALT is the result of their knowledge as industrial designers, their creativity and their visions of a healthier way of consumption. ALT also offers consulting, lectures and workshops.
Method
ALT have developed their own design method called Past Present Future (PPF) which is applied to all their work. One important aspect of the method is to take a product’s full life cycle into consideration. PPF asks questions as: what’s the history of the material, how does the material act in different situations and what will happen to the material after the product has been used? All this to guarantee a sustainable product development.
Manifesto
To further guarantee the quality of the ALT products (or services), all projects have to pass the following points/rules.
• There’s an everyday need for this product.
• The product is made entirely, or partly, by waste/used materials and can be recycled.
• The product is locally produced, in relation to the material.
• The product strives to be environmental friendly in every step of the production line.
• The final product carries an interesting recycling story.
• The product has a thought-trough design.
